In the future thriller “Breathe” (2024), Earth has become uninhabitable, devoid of oxygen, forcing survivors like Maya (Jennifer Hudson) and her daughter Zora (Quvenzhané Wallis) to live underground. Their lifeline is a state-of-the-art oxygen suit designed by Maya’s presumed-dead husband, Darius. Their existence is upended when a mysterious couple arrives, claiming knowledge of Darius and his fate. As Maya opens her bunker in tentative trust, she quickly learns these visitors are not who they seem, sparking a desperate fight for survival. “Breathe” is a story of resilience, love, and the lengths to which we’ll go to protect our own, set against the backdrop of a world gasping for air.
