Sorority Row Gets Moved Up

Sorority Row looks to hit screens in September instead of October as planned. One can look at this one of two ways. Either executives are pretty darn excited about the prospects of this movie sailing strong into Halloween with a September release, or they are shaking in their boots about going up against Shutter Island starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

Hellraiser is a Reboot Not a Remake

Thank God Almighty! I was praying that they would not ruin one of my favorite horror movies of all time. Looks like Hellraiser will be a reboot, not a remake. The difference being that the new Hellraiser film will tie in elments of the Clive Barker original novella The Hellbound Heart and the original film. I have been highly critical of Hollywood for their lack of creativity, and although they are revamping a franchise with this, I can accept the fact that there will be a new twist to what many deem a classic.

Re-Animator Remake on the Horizon

Well what do we have here? Another remake maybe? You don’t say? Seems that the Re-Animator is slated for a makeover folks. No sequel here, let’s just do the darn thing over again. Wait, better yet, let’s do it in 3-D like My Bloody Valentine. That will be cool. NOT!!! I am willing to bet my mother and 3 goats that this turns out to be the worst set of crap that hits the big screen when comes out. Any takers?

Hills Have Eyes 3

wes-craven

Look like good ole Wes Craven has designs on another phase in The Hills Have Eyes franchise. I myself have no problem with a sequel if its going to better the world of movies. But we seem to be plague with remake after remake, sequel after sequel. I just wish someone would decide to be original and make something new. Who knows, this could be the best in the franchise for all I know. But if it stinks up the theaters, I am boycotting horror movies for a year!!!

New Moon Art and Title

new-moon

As Juliet once said to Romeo: A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Now, modern-day star crossed lovers Bella Swan and Edward Cullen are getting ready to carry on with their cinematic love affair. But will the second “Twilight” movie smell as sweet now that it has a brand-new name?

MTV News has the scoop on the official name and logo for Chris Weitz’s soon-to-film sequel to “Twilight.” Dubbed “The Twilight Saga’s New Moon” (although the title treatment leaves off the “’s”) the film’s official title art stays true to the look of the first movie while swapping in an orange tint, a subtle crescent moon, and the release date of 11.20.09.

Although the look of the new logo will undoubtedly get Twilighter tongues wagging, it’s the five-word official title that is the most prominent variation from Stephenie Meyer’s simple “New Moon.”

With roman numerals now considered taboo in Hollywood, and sequel names like “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” and “Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li” in vogue, it makes sense that Weitz and crew would label the future films as “The Twilight Saga.” At the risk of reading too much into five words, it also seems to imply that “New Moon” will boast a more epic feel than the first movie.

As for the logo itself, Weitz has chosen to stay with the lowercase lettering, personable font and light-streaks-poking-through look of last year’s hit film. In switching from blue to orange, the movie’s upcoming posters will be instantly distinguishable from those of the original “Twilight” – which should make them look a whole lot cooler when teenage girls all over the world add them to their walls. The presence of orange also begs a new question: Now that blue and orange are taken, which colors should be used for “Eclipse” and “Breaking Dawn”?

It’s one of the most anticipated movies of the year. It’s the next installment in a worldwide phenomenon. And now, it’s called “The Twilight Saga’s New Moon.” Stay tuned, Twilighters, as MTV will continue to bring you all the latest news from now until November.

Linda Hamilton Terminator 4 Role

There has been a lot of talk about Linda Hamilton and Terminator Salvation and today comes word that the role is still being worked out. Many months ago we told you that McG was keen on bringing her back for Terminator Salvation but at the time Linda Hamilton had denied any involvement and said she has not been approached.

Today comes word that they have approached her now and she is just waiting to see how it all pans out. The word is that she will provide a voice over but not likely it seems to actually appear in the film in any fashion. It would be nice to see her come back especially when you consider she is much older and could pull off a role playing herself in the future. Assuming of course it all works into McG’s timeline.

The idea McG was bouncing around months ago was to have Sarah Connor do a voiceover to open the movie, recapping the first three movies for everyone.

Reegan Joins The Crazies Remake

Another remake on the horizons is of George A. Romero’s classic The Crazies. A very underrated film that he directed in 1973. At the helm is Breck Eisner with a script written by Ray Wright and Scott Kosar. The story revolves around the inhabitants of a small Kansas town who are beset by death and insanity after a plane crash lets loose a secret biological weapon into the water supply.

STYD got the scoop that Joe Reegan will be joining the cast which includes Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell. Shooting is said to begin this month in Georgia with a release date set for September 25th.

Five Killers Signs Heigl

Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl has just signed on to star alongside Ashton Kutcher in Lionsgate’s new film, Five Killers. Robert Luketic will be on board to direct the film who just recently worked with Heigl on another film. Filming is going to kick off next month in Atlanta and then finish up in the south of France.

Story kicks off when a woman meets the man of her dreams while on vacation. Married bliss is turned upside down when they discover that their neighbors may be assassins hired to kill them. I’m not sure how much horror will be involved in this typical thriller but we will keep you posted.
