According to the trades Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg have joined the cast of Lars von Trier’s Antichrist. It has been known that he has been planning to make this film for quite some time. The reason we have never said much is because quite frankly he has never said much about the project.

Apparently von Trier is going to film Antichrist in Germany which will mark the first time he has ever gone to that country to make a movie. He wrote the script along with contributor Anders Thomas Jensen. MFA Plus Filmdistribution will release “Antichrist” in Germany and TrustNordisk will handle international sales.

All we know of the films plot is that it follows a couple who retreat to a cabin in the woods to recover from the death of their child. Also from several comments von Trier has made is that the world was in fact made by Satan, not God. An interesting idea and we will have to see where he goes with the film.
