Walking the Distance

“I am working with the best actors,” the excited Adrienne King relates from her Texas hotel. “I have a delicious character. This is going to be a huge movie – it can’t miss.”

King is referring to “Walking Distance” the film she has just begun working on with Texas Horror Maverick, Mel House. House, the man behind the much anticipated “Closet Space” and the well regarded “Witchcraft 13”, recently crafted a “love letter” on the Fangoria website, detailing his excitement over her joining his cast, King notes. This excitement is doubled, in fact, by King’s many, grateful fans.

‘Walking Distance” marks King’s first major appearance.

Once onscreen after playing Alice in the first two “Friday the 13th” films. After a stalking incident in the early 80’s sidelined her on camera career, the unstoppable King was determined not to lay low. In fact, she made impressive strides in the looping-voice over business. She added background noises, such as telephone operator’s responses or any number of character voices when they were needed to bolster the atmosphere in major films and television projects. Essentially, as she describes it, she was acting with superstars like Johnny Depp - only behind the scenes. As much as she enjoyed that aspect of entertaining, King is beyond thrilled to be in front of the camera again. Over the last year or so, the horror convention circuit has given King a new lease on life and she is extremely grateful to long time fans like House whom have grown into celebrated filmmakers on their own terms.

‘It’s a phenomenal script,” King asserts and though the weather is currently “brutal” in Texas, she couldn’t be more content and pleased with her career as it currently stands. Ultimately, after a brief trek back home to Oregon, King will return to finish the film with such genre stalwarts as Reggie Bannister and Debbie Rochon then joining the cast. Perhaps, even more exciting for indie horror fans are the number of House’s Southern acting stable who are appearing the film – James LaMarr, Morgan McCarthy and Melanie Donihoo (all from “Closet Space”) are involved – ensuring that this is a once in a lifetime project. Of course, this is especially true as “Walking Distance” signals the return of “Alice” and the beginning of King’s exciting film future!
