Next year is going to go down as the year that 3-D took over horror. Just the other day we mentioned Shane Ryan working on Amateur Porn Star Killer 3 in 3-D. But there is also plenty of big Hollywood films that are getting the same treatment including My Bloody Valentine 3-D, Piranha 3-D and Final Destination 4.

Today STYD has learned that Final Destination 4 is going to be hitting screens on August 14th, 2009. So we have quite sometime before we get to see this film. This time around Dan Ellis back behind the camera and the film catalyst will take place at a racecar track. Other than that info on this film is slim. But lucky for us we’ve got over a year to learn more. Keep it here for more.

This year there are over 100 genre films playing including a TON of great stuff. Some of those include Repo! The Genetic Opera, Midnight Meat Train, Pig Hunt, [REC], The Echo, Bad Biology and on.

Of course the event takes place in Montreal, QC, Canada. So if you plan on attending you better start getting your plans together now. I’ve been going through some of the films and they have added some great trailers to many of the films that will be showing including a bad ass trailer for Pig Hunt.

So clear your schedule from July 3rd-21st because this one is gonna be huge. For all the info you need about the festival hit up the official website.

Dimension Extreme continues to unload a bunch of DVD release dates and two of their more anticipated titles have been announced.  Fangoria reports that Dario Argento’s final Mother of Tears will be released on September 23rd.  The direct-to-DVD sequel of the surprise hit Feast, Feast 2: Sloppy Seconds, is getting it’s release shortly after on October 21st.  No details of DVD features or coverart have been released yet, we will have that information for you when it becomes available. 

It’s shaping up to be a good fall from Dimension Extreme as between the end of August thru the end of October they are releasing The Wizard of Gore remake, Mother of Tears, Feast 2: Sloppy Seconds, and Rob Zombies Halloween 3-disc Collectors edition.  Not to shabby!

Well its that time where I throw you an Asian horror trailer for a film that looks filled with promise.  This trailer is for the South Korean film “Gosa: Pihee Jungkangosa” which translates to Exam: Bloody Mid-Terms.  The film revolves around 20 high school students who gather for a special Saturday afternoon class.  While in the class, a tv mysteriously turns on as music blares.  One of their fellow classmates is shown submerged in a tank of water and a voice tells them that she will be killed if they dont answer a question correctly.  As they go along, more students begin disappearing and the questions to save their classmates lives get harder and harder.  A 2008 release is expected in Korea, no word yet on any other release dates as details are scarce.  Check out the first teaser trailer below(sorry, no subtitles)

It’s time to reach into your pockets and double dip.  Well, that is if you are a fan of Rob Zombie’s Halloween reimaging.  Fangoria got word from Dimension Extreme that a release date has been set for a 3-Disc Collectors edition of Zombie’s Halloween.  This 3-disc Collectors Edition is going to be hitting shelves October 21st.  No cover art has been released, but the 3-disc edition is going to contain a 4 and a half hour “making of” documentary!  Yeah thats right 4.5 hours long! 

To me, 4.5 hours of documentary seems a bit excessive especiallly for a film that failed to hold my attention for 1.5 hours.  Obviously some people wont be able to pass this up, while others will skip save their dough.  It will be interesting to see if there are any other special features worthwhile on this release or if the documentary is primarily it.  Only time will tell but keep an eye out for more details as they arise.
