Death Race Remake Poster
From www.Filmz.ru and www.ShockTilyouDrop.com comes a first look at the Death Race Remake poster. Does anyone else think this puppy looks familiar? Dungeon Siege anyone? Anyrate if you want to see a larger version click the image.
The 1975 cult classic Death Race 2000 is remembered for its quirky humor, wonderful satire and at points over the top violence. Paul W.S Anderson’s (Event Horizon, Resident Evil) remake simply titled Death Race has thrown out the satire in place of making this a straight-up action flick.
Bind Updates On Production and Cast
We have been closely following Dan Walton’s 80′s slasher Bind for quite some time now and he has just sent us a little update about the picture. On the production side of the film Philly Chick Pictures has partnered with GrounDead Productions to produce his feature film debut. Also producing is of course Walton, Brooke Lewis and Jim Pacitti.
In front of the camera he has plenty of talent on tap including Devon Sawa (Final Destination), Ken Foree (Dawn Of The Dead), Christa Campbell (2001 Maniacs), Brooke Lewis (iMurders), Axelle Carolyn (Doomsday), Jim Pacitti (Storm Of The Dead) and Dan Ellis (Gutterballs). For those of you wanting the red stuff you will be pleased to know that Ryan Nicholson will be on hand. Keep it here for more information as we get it.
For years the wooded mountains have been the setting for many myths, horror and ghost stories, told one generation to the next on camping trips. Only, what no one ever thought to consider was, what if there was someone in those woods worse than any myth imaginable…
Cloverfield 2 Dead in the Water?
Recently there has been a lot of buzz about a possible sequel to Cloverfield. Several ideas have been tossed around including one in which the story would be told from a different perspective on the same night. Well now it appears that the project might just disappear completely.
Collider was in attendance at the 34th Annual Saturn Awards in which they got to ask director Matt Reeves about his upcoming projects. When asked about Cloverfield 2 he said it is not dead in the water but just “on hold”. It sounds like code for forget about it. The main reason for not doing another film is simply because they do not want to tell the same story again. They want something new and fresh. Plus the ending to the first film was so well done.. he just doesn’t want to beat the horse anymore.
Reeves also mentioned his upcoming film The Invisible Woman which is what he called a “Hitchcockian thriller”. I don’t think that film will have much talk here but you can check out everything he had to say about it by watching the video over at Collider.
Rue Morgue Issue 79 Review
Receiving this months issue in the mail was quite a treat when I opened up the white envelope and had the bad ass Machine Girl striking a pose on the cover. Having watched the film prior to reading the articles inside it had already become one of my favorite films of the year so I knew from that instant, I was not alone. This issue mainly dealt with the societies that produce these horror films. What is the climate of the country that would produce a film like this?
Amateur Porn Star Killer 3 in 3D?
Recently I had the chance to check out Shane Ryan’s Amateur Porn Star Killer 2. The film really struck me like the August Underground films. Only replace all of the intense gore from those films and throw in some triple X hardcore sex scenes. Whatever floats your boat when it comes to these gritty, in-your-face, home videos from serial killers I guess.
The Host 2 Is Coming
Last we heard about The Host 2 was that the script was written by comic book artist Kang Full and it was going to be a prequel. The film would take place in 2003 when they were restoring the Cheonggye Stream. That stream had been blocked off for 30 years so when they finally go back to restore it they are confronted with a surprise. Full spoke about the project saying, “I wanted to maintain the grace of the original film and to overcome the difficulties and limitations a sequel could have. And I wish to show more action with multiple monsters.”
Torture Porn: Feeding the Beast Within
Shock Exploitation cinema enjoyed its original heyday in the seventies with titles like I Spit on Your Grave and The Last House on the Left. Though not the first examples, they may be the most well known. Generally characterized by extreme violence and explicit sexual situations, these films were often criticized by the public as having no redeeming values other than to make people feel uncomfortable. Stephen King once said that “good art should make you uncomfortable.” But there have long been debates as to whether this genre of film is art or merely cheap thrills for the sick-minded.
