Studio Crushes Friday the 13th Buzz

The Friday The 13th Remake has not by any means gotten alot of good buzz from die hard genre fans who have asked the common and obvious question ‘why?’. Where none genre fans especially younger ones might be drawn to see a remake of a classic horror movie to experience the terror we all enjoyed as youngsters most of us die hard fans think that remakes are nothing more then cashing in on our dreams. Younger audiences dont seem to appreciate the older genre films since the production values are not all glossy and you wont see your favorite tween actor running around screaming and spitting out mindless lines.

York Entertainment Acquires Amhurst

York Entertainment has just acquired worldwide rights to the indie horror flick Amhurst. The film made its world premiere screening back in March which brought a lot of attention to the project. This lead to the unholy union between them and York Entertainment whom director Rocky Constanzo says, “York was one of five distributors that contacted us and after lots of consideration, we chose to sign with York, mainly because they seemed to believe in it the most.”

Derek Mears Talks Friday the 13th At Comic Con

We got the opportunity to sit down with Derek Mears to talk about Friday the 13th at Comic Con this year. I have to honestly say this was the coolest guy we got a chance to speak with so far. He had some great stories and gave us some very good insight about the upcoming remake.. and not all of it is good.

Right off the bat he began talking about the script and what he says worries me a bit, “The way that Mark and Damian written the script there is a lot more levels to him (Jason). Where he is more of full fledged character and not just a guy running around in a hockey mask killing people. You can to one side where there is this child who is hurt and tormented and you can empathize with him with what he is going through. Read the rest of this entry »

Bill Nighy Talks Underworld 3 At Comic Con

Once again at Comic Con we sat down with one of the coolest old guys I’ve ever known, Bill Nighy. While we chatted him up he was cracking jokes the whole time and I don’t think he quite answered any of the questions without slipping in a little joke here and there which is always good when you have to talk to 20 different actors.

Punisher WarZone Controversy

At Comic Con some VERY violent new footage for Punisher Warzone was debuted ( watch it ). The footage was supposed to be shown off by Lexi Alexander the director but word from Lionsgate at the convention was she was on her honeymoon and unable to attend. Odd… considering Comic Con is a massive show that is pretty much THE demographic to show your film at. You would think she would know that. Well if you believe AICN and I do.. she was more then just on her Honeymoon. She was FIRED.

Dark Knight Writer has Terminator 4 Connnection

As you all know by now we caught up with McG at Comic Con as well as the rest of the cast of the film and he spilled the beans on something that we did not know before. He told us that the film would have an R rating which we already told you. He also told us that Stan Winston would have a cameo which we told you about. The shocker was that the film has more then one connection to Dark Knight. Christian Bale is the obvious connection but McG revealed that Jonathon Nolan who wrote Dark Knight was the lead writer on Terminator 4.

The Director of Underworld 3 Speaks!

We had a chance at Comic Con to talk to the director of Underworld 3 Patrick Tatopoulos.. try and say that 5 times fast. Its a mouthful. This is the french directors first foray into the directors seat but he is hardly a newbie in Hollywood. He is primarily a creature designer who has learned the craft of directing by hard work and dedication to the art. He did the creature design on Silent Hill, Trick R Treat and Underworld Evolution. So he definitely has some skills and is a visual person who has the potential to deliver a truly stunning piece of film. Patrick is quite open about the fact that Hollywood is fickle and tells us that he knows that this film could make or break any future career he has in the directors chair. At least in his case he has something to fall back on since he has done the Creature Design or FX or Art Direction on some of the best horror films of the last 5 years. The guy wears alot of hats well.
