Wiseman Directing Gears of War
For the past couple months everyone has been wondering who will be directing the Gears of War movie. Well Len Wiseman has been the most likely candidate for the job and today it was confirmed in Variety that he will indeed be at the helm. Chris Morgan is penning a new draft of the script which was originally done by Stuart Beattie. Wiseman and Morgan are working closely together to develop the core story.
“Gears” revolves around a world reeling from an invasion by aliens known as the Locust, and a small team of elite soldiers who fight to retake the planet Sera and save its human inhabitants. Three million copies of the game have been sold, so to take this title to the big screen is a no-brainer.
Because the sequel to the game will be launching in November some feared that they may rush the film. This however is not the case says Epic Games topper Mark Rein, “It’s like with our games, you can have it right or have it right now. We want to get it right. There’s no timetable for us. We just want to make as good a movie as we can, and we think (Wiseman’s) the guy who will do it.”
