Downey Plays Cowboys and Aliens
Robert Downey Jr. has luanched Iron Man into the $500+ million range so this makes him a real hot ticket right now. I think however he better make his moves now because he will soon be in Tropic Thunder which I think is probably going to tank. Today it was announced that he is in talks to star in Cowboys & Aliens for Dreamworks/Universal.
The film is based on a graphic novel written by Fred Van Lente and Andrew Foley from an original idea by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. The story takes place during a conflict between some Apache and Western settlers. But then from out of the sky a spaceship crash lands. The two rivals must put aside their differences in order to drive the Aliens back.
This film has been in development for quite some time with just about every major player having their hand at the script. But it wasn’t until “Iron Man” and “Children of Men” writers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus put their touch on it did everything line up. Honestly this sounds a little bit like Wild Wild West meets Men In Black but we’ll see how things shape up.
