Red Mist Becomes Freakdog
Director Paddy Breathnach got his start on Shrooms, a film that I thoroughly enjoyed but I think it gets a bad wrap. Recently we have been following his follow-up to that Red Mist starring uber hottie Arielle Kebbel. Today Fangoria has learned that the film is up for a title change to Freakdog.
Producer Simon Bosanquet tells Fango, “Our rationale for the title change is that FREAKDOG gives a truer representation of what the film is about, when linked with other promotional material—the poster, etc.” Breathnach adds, “It wasn’t my intention to follow SHROOMS so quickly with another horror movie, but the supernatural element in FREAKDOG intrigued me. I also loved the journey of the central character, Catherine, who goes from a doctor committed to saving life to one taking lives in the most violent way imaginable. That narrative drive, coupled with the unusual plot surprises, setpiece killings and major stuntwork, made it an interesting challenge.”
This sounds like a great project and when it comes stateside it will be released by Starz Entertainment which means Anchor Bay will be putting out the DVD. Hopefully we will be seeing some images and trailers from this project soon. When they do, you can bet we will have them here.
