Saw V Plot Revealed
Honestly, the SAW franchise shoulda stopped after part III. The main villain was offed in the final few minutes and it looked like the series was over. Of course Lionsgate wouldn’t allow their cash-cow just go away like that and we got a part IV. When the writers strike occurred late last year, it looked like there will be a Halloween, without a SAW. Guess again, good old Lionsgate rushed into production for part V. From LionsGate comes the synopsis for SAW 5.
In the fifth installment of the SAW franchise, Hoffman is seemingly the last person alive to carry on the Jigsaw legacy. But when his secret is threatened, Hoffman must go on the hunt to eliminate all loose ends.
Now this looks like things could be switched up a bit. We could have more chase and detective stuff and less traps. Then again, we might get a third of the film being hyper-edited flashbacks and Hoffman throwing the loose ends into traps. Guess we’ll have to wait for a trailer.
Personally, I think they should stop, but as we all know Lionsgate is gonna keep pumping them out until they stop making big bucks. And as the films are fairly cheap (SAW IV’s budget was only around $10million), they can rake in a decent amount of money and not be a loss.
SAW V is due out October 24, 2008 with production designer of II-IV David Hackl at the helm (marking his directorial debut) and with Feast and IV writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan writing the screenplay.
