BioShock Movie To get R Rating

If Gore Verbinski has his way the upcoming BioShock movie will not be a candy coated PG13 horror movie but rather an R rated film to appeal to the 17 plus crowd. He told Variety:

“We’re prepared to make it an R-rated movie. I don’t intuitively see it as PG-13. The content and the graphic nature of the story itself is smarter than that. It’s not for young kids. The utopian references and the way the characters and world are drawn in that delightfully inspired Jules Verne and Ayn Rand style places the film in a more elevated realm. It’s the realm of a graphic novel. It has to have that edge. There’s sort of that “Manchurian Candidate” psychological element in there as well.”

According to ReelComix John Logan Academy Award winner, will take on writing the script for Bioshock. Combine that with Gore Verbinski directing and we have ourselves a hit in the making! Set in an alternative 1960, you play a survivor of a plane crash at sea, a crash that sees marooned in the middle of the ocean, except for a strange structure nearby. This is the entrance to an underwater city called Rapture, created by the hugely rich and slightly odd businessman Andrew Ryan.

He wanted to create a perfect society filled with the best of humanity, and in 1950 did just that. As the population rose to thousands, so did its problems, a class system evolved and with it genetic engineering and experimentation for those who could achieve it, and soon all out war. You have arrived at the city when it has been ravaged by war, but there are still survivors.
