Next Remake? Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!
“Aaargh!” is right! Just when you thought they ran out of horror movies to remake, they reach back into the vault and decide to pull out a cult horror to polish up. This time set to get the remake treatment is Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. Yahoo! Movies reports that Kent Nichols and Douglas Sarine, the creators of the internet series “Ask a Ninja”, are writing a script with Nichols set to direct.
No word yet on any plot changes but the original 1978 film revolved around a wave of reports of mysterious attacks involving people and pets being eaten by the traditionally docile fruit. A special government task force is set up to investigate the violent veggies and put a stop to their murderous spree.
I for one have always thought Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is one of those films that “so bad it’s good” and I honestly think maybe an updated version of this may go over well. With the FX available these days, it just may actual help this film become a somewhat fun and enjoyable film. Although there is the old saying “You can polish a turd but it’s still a turd” so who knows. But I personally dont think theres anyway they could make this worse…..
