Macabre ‘Dark Oz’ Comic Being Adapted
Caliber Comic’s series “Oz”, which later turned into “Dark Oz” when it was finished by Arrow Comics, is being adapted for the big screen. Fangoria reports that Pras Michel of the hip-hop group The Fugees has optioned the comic to become a live-action film trilogy. Pras Michel wants to play The Scarecrow in the film which he plans to make a darker and more frightening view of the Land of Oz.
The comic series follows a group of Freedom Fighters such as Jack Pumpkinhead, Tik-Tok, & Wugglebug as they try and save the Land of Oz from recent conquerors Ruggedo and Mombi. Familiar characters The Lion, Tin-Man, and Scarecrow have spells placed on them to rule different areas of Oz as evil tyrants.
Production is rumored to be set to begin before the end of 2008.
